Half-Assed Vocabulary

Ambidextrous: able to use both hands skillfully.
Speaking high and mighty, using elevated vocabulary, and showing off your knowledge and complexity may make you feel smarter or more powerful - but it won't attract your audience or make it easier to understand WTF your startup actually does.
In school, we were taught vocabulary words: their spellings, their definitions, and how to use them properly in a sentence. Looking back, it hasn't necessarily contributed to achieving bigger or greater things.
True, I was able to remember a specific word and use it as an opening for a post - but beyond that, day-to-day laymen's terms have served me just fine, and likely much better, since.
Knowing or using fancy vocabulary may differentiate you in usage, but it also results in fewer people understanding what you even mean. I wouldn't use "ambidextrous" in a sentence when running into someone at a supermarket - so why would I use such words on my website, in my ads, or in my explanation of a product or solution?
If fewer people understand a specific word, how do you expect to lure in mass audiences in the first place, let alone have visitors easily understand What's In It For Them?
Talk to your audience like the real people they are. Keep your message and copy simple, quick, and easily understood - so they can even explain it forward to others, should the need arise (you never know who you'll run into).
When pitching and talking to your audiences, skip the impressive vocabulary. Use clear, simple terms they understand the first time. That's it.
