Appreciate Others' Wins

Jealous: feeling or showing envy of someone or their achievements and advantages
-- definition
Whether we'd like to admit it or not, we can get a little jealous of friends, colleagues, and others' achievements.
In certain cases, some honest jealousy is good for competition or building your drive. But it doesn't exactly inject positivity into the experience. If we look at it clearly, we shouldn't be jealous of our friends and colleagues. We should appreciate and value their achievements.
Shouldn't we?
In many cases, their wins will trickle down to us too. As they gain more experience and knowledge, so do we. A colleague's win can also be a win for you. Sure, if they beat you for a specific project it won't feel like one, but maybe their solution was actually the better one.
So appreciate others' wins and see what you can take from them.
Appreciating a win lets you reflect on the loss, on their process, on the hard work, and on what brought the outcome about. You will also realize, clearly, that it isn't really the end of the world.
Choose jealousy instead, and you won't look at the positives. You'll just get down on yourself about what you missed, what you could have done differently, or why you would have been better.
Both paths lead to reflection. But with appreciation comes positivity, respect, and a more useful drive to get better ourselves.
And we know we can't always win. We win some and we lose some, that's the story :)
