You're Learning What NOT To Do

You're Learning What NOT To Do

"When there is no room for mistakes, there is no room for improvement." - Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty

We already know mistakes are coming. Things won't go to plan no matter how carefully we prepare.

That's a given.

We also know the expected playbook: fail fast, move on quickly, let go so you can grow. That's what makes us better. It's not optional, avoidable, or something you can steer around. Mistakes will happen.

Also a given.

If we want to keep learning, we have to actually accept that, not just say we do. We have to appreciate the mishap for what it is: a lesson that wasn't in the syllabus and wasn't necessarily expected.

Hooray. :)

Those moments when something falls apart, results are bad, and you're feeling bummed? They're also notifications that a lesson is forming. Something went wrong. But something can also be understood. If you approach it with open eyes and make a real attempt to look at what happened, you'll pull something new out of it every single time.

And since you've lived it and accepted it, it becomes a genuine chance for personal improvement.

Even if all it shows you is the wrong way, that still counts. Maybe especially so.

Because now you know what NOT to do next time.

The lesson is often in the negative space.

Don't you agree?
