The Blank Page

The Blank Page

You stare at it. You're intimidated by it. And you want nothing more than to make it not blank. If you've read a few of these posts, you've probably come across some that didn't make sense, weren't written particularly well, or left you genuinely wondering what any of it even meant. I get it. It happens. At least they didn't take long to read. Sometimes I stare at that blank page with an idea I'd like to expand on, a direction to explore, or a thought I need to get out. It doesn't always evolve into a full post, or anything coherent at all. And sometimes, I end up liking what it became, even when it isn't the best work. Because it's still a thought. A share. An idea out in the world. You could call it a personal exercise, a daily habit, or a semi-public diary. In reality, it's an ongoing process to keep me writing, to keep ideas moving, to force myself to change and improve, and to keep going back to that blank page and beating it by making it not blank, again and again. I know it isn't always quality. I know it's occasionally nonsensical. And yes, I do feel like an imposter here and there. But the process itself, the progress, the evolution: that part is priceless. Why? Because I'm writing. Because I'm not breaking the chain. And because I genuinely hope it'll improve, grow, and branch into other things: more intimate memories, short stories, funnier moments, better outcomes, for me, for you, for anyone. Could happen. Or not. Or I may stop altogether someday. But until then, this is another honest ramble that put a smile on my face.
