You were the Chosen One! It was said that you would destroy the Sith, not join them. bring balance to the force, not leave it in darkness.

– Obi-Wan, Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith

Well that didn’t turn out as you planned, did it?

You expected better results, more relevant leads, greater exposure, broader interest…whatever.

What can you do, you can’t always tell if something will hit or succeed.

But you can take a look at the campaign, its results, how it was planned, developed, and executed, and assess which adjustments are needed for the next campaign. What can we learn from the failure (or lukewarm results) of this activity to administer and change in the next one?

This isn’t anything new, and we can have a successful run after a successful run, so the one that doesn’t go as expected will tear us apart and make us beat ourselves up at its failure.

Still, sometimes things simply don’t go our way, not because of lack of preparation or lack of interest or irresponsibility or timing or whatever.

Sometimes, our great idea turns out to not be so great in reality.

Yes, that can happen – crazy right?

But this also means the balance could go the other way: you could be running or trying something you don’t expect to succeed much, and it turns out outstanding and extraordinary…and then you beat yourself up for not seeing it ahead of time.

Conclusion: don’t beat yourself up so much cause it’s never the end of the world; just remember to expect both failures and successes, recalibrate, and always make sure to learn from the results…as painful as they may sometimes be.
