– Everything in Its Right Place by Radiohead

Sometimes things are going well, progressing smoothly, and you’re checking off those tasks one after another.

…and sometimes you hit a wall.

How do you break through, solve the problem, and move on to bigger and better things?

You can always take a breather, walk away for a few minutes, hours, or days, and see if that cleared some things up and some new directions or answers came up.

You could also utilize the power of others and consult with colleagues, friends, experts, and the sort – a given.

And if these haven’t worked, you may need to go back to square one, review your notes, go through the process again, and as a detective see if you’ve missed something.

Hint: you have; it’s not certain to be the solution you’ve sought, but it is another puzzle piece that may not put the current puzzle together but will contribute to the next.

Going back and reviewing the process helps you notice if anything was overlooked, if you’ve had it and lost it. It helps you check whether you may have already deciphered the problem and simply wasn’t at a place to realize it – sometimes we reach the answer too soon, and we don’t see it.

And it could be you simply needed to walk away and review your notes for inspiration, and voila…everything fell into its place.

Or…none of these things worked and going back to square one feels like a waste of time. But even in that case, you may have used up precious time, and it may not have contributed to arriving at the answer right this minute, yet it was far from a waste of time.

Reviewing, going through the motions, following the process, and checking who, what, where, when, and how definitely contributes to growth – it may not be this time around, but it helped in one way or another and could end up being a lot of fun too. 🙂
